GRATITUDE TO THE OCCUPIERS
NOVEMBER 1, 2011
GREETINGS DEAR FRIENDS
It's certainly been an exciting time lately. The 'Occupy Wall Street' movement organized by the Anonymous group has been a huge success, spreading all over the world. We are definitely entering a time when we are fed up with the old ways and are demanding real change, not just rhetoric. I feel a great deal of gratitude to those who have made the effort to participate in these demonstrations. I've written down some thoughts about this movement - see below.
I'm also excited about an upcoming event in Guelph, Ontario - two amazing musicians and sound healers, Gary Diggins and Prosad, will be performing on November 19. See the details below.
We've started to plan some week-long retreats for next winter. One is a Nia/Sound-healing experience with co-facilitator, Wendy Roman running from February 10 to 19, 2012. I'm also offering a 10 day 'Why is Life Mystery School' retreat from March 2 to 11, which will be a very affordable adventure. See the details below.

Thank You Occupiers

We are definitely living in exciting times. We may be on the brink of another financial meltdown, once again victims of the Banksters. The amount of fraud that has been perpetrated on the public is astounding and unprecedented. And yet virtually no bankers have been brought to justice. No lessons have been learned - the banks continue to make huge profits, pay huge salaries and bonuses and to sell very risky and dicey products. If they succeed, they make huge profits, if they fail the government bails them out. Nothing has changed - it's business as usual. Here are some excellent videos with which to educate yourselves about the Bankster fraud:

In the midst of this travesty, people are fighting back - in a way that is peaceful yet effective. The group of young computer hackers and activists called 'Anonymous' are organizing a peaceful, non-violent revolution and the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement is only the first step. There are many aspects of this movement that I'm very proud of.
It's great that this movement has no specific leaders for the establishment to demonize - no one person to discredit with misinformation and ad hominem attacks. Hollywood loves to push on us the image of a great hero, usually carrying a machine gun, who will lead us through and save the world. Without such a leader we are helpless. But we are getting wise to that tactic. There is no single leader - we are the one we've been waiting for. Almost any member of this movement can represent the group and be a spokesperson for what the group stands for.
It's great that this movement has no specific set of demands. The mass media keeps saying that these demonstrations will bear no fruit because they have no clear focus. But while some anchorman tries to tell us that there's no specific agenda, we all know what it's about. There's no specific set of demands because we are tired of deceptive band-aid solutions. There is no little problem that needs to be fixed, but rather a big problem that needs to come to a complete end. Most of us understand at a gut level that the system must be dismantled - it's destroying us. We need something completely different.
Hopefully most of us can see that what we need is not some new system, some new 'ism du jour'. Whether it's capitalism or communism, no ism will work without a change in our collective attitudes and values - without an understanding of how things really work - without a realization that true power lies within and has nothing to do with the hoarding of material wealth. No system will work until compassion is the dominant value and virtues like honesty, tolerance, kindness and fairness rule the day. Any system will be manipulated by dishonest opportunists until these profound changes occur in the heart of all of humanity. I believe that, despite what gets reported on the 'news', these changes are happening.
It's great to see that this movement is dedicated to a non-violent approach. Although there is some justifiable anger, there is very little of the frothing, hysterical anger that has been characteristic of past revolutions. This one will be different. Most of the violent outbursts are coming from the authorities and this is becoming more and more evident. But when they are met with no retaliatory violence, the authorities are stumped. They don't know how to fight that. A crucial moment in any revolution comes when the ones holding the guns realize that the masses are not the enemy - that in fact the soldiers and police are part of the masses and are also victims of the injustice. It is imperative that we are patient with them and maintain an attitude of compassion and peace. They will eventually join us.
Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those who are out there on the frontline of this movement - to those faceless, egoless heroes who have organized it. This is only the next step in the wave of change that is sweeping the planet, that is transforming mankind. Things may get more difficult before they get better, so it is very important that we support each other, stay brave and hopeful, treat each other with kindness and dignity. A glorious future awaits us.
